The Maryland Governor’s Office of Appointments is accepting nominations for two positions on the Maryland State Board of Massage Therapy Examiners (Board), and is accepting applications to the Board through the end of the month.
Being a Board member is an excellent opportunity to combine the massage community’s collective viewpoints, visions, and hopes for Maryland. We encourage you to apply for a Board position.
Am I Qualified?
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a Maryland resident
- Be a licensed massage therapist in active practice
- Be a graduate of a Board-approved massage therapy course
- Have practiced massage therapy in Maryland for at least five consecutive years
- Be in good standing with the Board

About the Board
The primary function of the Board is to protect the public. The Board is comprised of seven members—five licensed massage therapists and two consumers. Board members serve four-year terms.
Board members have varied responsibilities, including issuing licenses to qualified massage therapy applicants, receiving and resolving complaints, establishing massage therapy standards, and enforcing current massage therapy laws and rules. Learn more about the Board here.
